This is the SEQUEL to the character of Adam's transformation story. When we left Adam, there had been a glitch in his transformation process. The plan was not executed according to the design. This error left Adam to fend for himself. Ultimately, this forced Adam to transform on his own accord.

I touched on a topic in PART ONE surrounding the collective's need to fix other people. My theory is that one cannot transform anything but themselves first. The self is paramount. The vogue psychology "self-love" movement has set people in several directions searching for this love. No one can precisely define what "self-love" really is. We have an idea, yes. If I were to ask you, "What can I actionably do right now to implement self-love into my life so I believe it 100%?", you might just stand there and not say a word. Uh-oh. Oops. Follow me with this. I'm finding that we are preaching our truths without anything substantial to show for it.

Be sure to TASTE your words BEFORE you spit them out. When one works hard in silence, it's the noise that can be its success. I am going to be amazingly honest with you, and you might not want to hear this. When one door closes, another door does not necessarily open. Sometimes if it doesn't open, it's not your door. Period. End of story. Where does that leave you?

With yourself. Only yourself. I can promise you that everyone in your life will leave you or die one day. This is a painstakingly inevitable truth. In tandem, this fact opens the doors to yourself. Get to know yourself. Investigate every inch of your soul and interrogate your body. You have yourself for a very long time; no one else.

These lofty goals that society comes up with to better our world are incredibly self-serving. They are more an act of show than of integrity. Hence the reason why we haven't reached the finish line on these goals. How can anyone expect to get to B from A when the ship (themselves) they're sailing in has never been inspected? Inspect yourselves, please. We should be trying to better ourselves. The rest will follow. Period.

The character of Adam has undergone his transformation, left to his own defenses. He found that he likes himself quite a bit. He recognizes his challenges, strengths, truths, and lies. He celebrates his life, even at a young age. By continually aiming to transform himself, this causes a ripple effect in everything he touches. This is the progress I speak of when society dreams up lofty goals.

I challenge all of you to make a list of five things you like about yourself. That simple. Just write down five things and leave the paper somewhere. Come back to it. Answer it when it calls. Add to it. I did this for myself.

Let's break this down in relation to myself...not the character of Adam. I'm an actor. THREAT ONE. I'm a singer. THREAT TWO. I'm a dancer. THREAT THREE. I'm an instrumentalist. THREAT FOUR. I choreograph + curate. THREAT FIVE. Therefore, I am a quintuple threat. A Penta-tastic combination of talent. That makes ME happy. Why? Because I said so. PERIOD.

ADAM'S TRANSFORMATION: PART ONE by ADAM CERNY

ADAM'S TRANSFORMATION: PART ONE by Adam Cerny

*Based on a true story. Or, is it?*

As German-American poet, Charles Bukowski, stated, "We’re all going to die, all of us, what a circus! That alone should make us love each other but it doesn’t. We are terrorized and flattened by trivialities, we are eaten up by nothing."

Part one of a two-part series, part one explores the transformation process. The character of Adam is someone I relate to. I used to believe that I could change the world and make it a better place. Art, taking a stance, fighting for a cause, raising awareness. Giving myself over to other people. My belief had such fervor that I'd often lose myself in this conquest. We are a blip on the radar of the Universe. The Moon has more influence over the world than any one person or group of individuals. I came to realize that this collective goal we share is an utter waste of our time. We see this same scenario play out in our society. "Let's help everyone but ourselves."

We allow trivialities to shrink us. We grant permission to ourselves to run from nothing. We become spectral. Lost to ourselves. We create ghosts that roam around in our minds, and yes, it is haunting. Like Adam, I now believe that one cannot change the world. While it's a provocative and elitist goal, I can't find it workable. So, I want to mirror a new goal that plays out through the character of Adam. "I want to change myself." Now, that statement holds more weight. It's workable. It's a start.

I will always believe that humanity, as a collective, has the potential to shift the grid. Due to societal conditioning, I can't see this ever coming to fruition, though. Only if we all go back to home base and redesign our blueprint. If all were to do this, we could then branch out together. This is why I've separated my work into Part One and Part Two. Day and Night. Light and Dark. Anima and Animus. Yin and Yang. If we don't have a point of contrast to recognize, then how will we ever know how to transform?

This film only scratches the surface of what's available to us. Sometimes, we are the enemy. Our own enemy. Yet, rarely, are we ever our own best friend or lover. We nurture our enemies more than our comrades. The goal is not to learn, but to unlearn. Strip ourselves bare for ourselves to look at and examine. Only then can real change begin.
