ADAM'S APPLE: Creative art, ramblings, theatre, pop culture, music, dance, offensive humor, movie parodies, movie homage....you name it, you're going to find it here. Let's talk about it...
You know - I could write something quite profound about this video. I could. However, I don't want to muddy up all of the amazing fun I had while working on the musical, CATCH ME IF YOU CAN. I am now, officially, a Gumbro!

MIND MELT: MY FIRST SLUTTY MUSIC VIDEO OF 2018 by Adam Cerny
Working in the spiritual community, I've come to witness a collective pain. A confusion. 2018 began and a series of unexpected events unfolded in the lives of many people. We see what's not working. We have many karmic decisions to make, now, more than ever.
Here are some facts that will uplift your spirit. Let's consider what's going right. Yes? Every day, the number of people living in poverty goes down by 217,000. 325,000 more people gain access to electricity every day. 300,000 more gain access to clean drinking water. I'm using the 1960s as a point of reference. In the 1960s, the majority of humans had always been illiterate + lived in poverty. Now, fewer than 15% are illiterate, and fewer than 10% live in extreme poverty. In another 15 years, illiteracy + extreme poverty might become a thing of the past.
I want you to think of your lineage, your ancestry + your relatives who worked so hard for the life you are living. In the 1950s, the U.S. had segregation, polio, bans on interracial marriage, gay sex, and birth control. The majority of the world lived under dictatorships. Two-thirds of parents had a child die before the age of five. We had stifling limits on women + faced a famine. Look how far we've come, people!
-2015 ripped my soul apart. -2016 almost killed me. -2017 was utter fucking hell. -2018 is a shit show, so far.
I have found a solution of sorts. It's minor. It's a tweak in the way we tell ourselves certain stories about what's going on. I'm trying this again. Watch me.
-2015 opened my eyes to several truths I had been denying. -2016 tested my strength + resilience in a way I couldn't have imagined. -2017, on a whole, was a rollercoaster of a life lesson. I learned so much. I took away only the good. -2018 is steering me towards my path in life, which I have strayed from.
You see, the "sweet spot" of pain lies. It lives in the space created when life shifts you from one path to another. It's not about the destination. It's about the journey. If we can find our stillness in that transition space, we have a chance at attaining nirvana. If we can all lighten up a bit. Life doesn't have to pave our way through polarizing events.
QUESTION: Hey! How has 2018 been working out for you, so far? ADAM: (long pause) QUESTION: (clears throat) How has 2018 been working out for you, so far? ADAM: I heard you the first time. I'm trying to find the right words. QUESTION: I'll rephrase, what has 2018 felt like for you, so far?ADAM: Utterly confusing. Disjointed. Incohesize. Chaotic. 2018 started off to a bitch of a start. I speak for the collective, as well. Everyone seems to be in so much pain. If they aren't, they are hiding it very well. I can feel it for everyone, though. I can feel it everywhere. Confusion paints many situations I've encountered. That's what 2018 has felt like for me, so far. A Mind Melt. QUESTION: What do you intend to do about it? ADAM: I don't have that much power. I suppose I can only try to navigate this, barely decipherable terrain, on my own. That's...so very much against my nature, though. I want to get out and help people. I can only do so much, though. QUESTION: What CAN you do, Adam? ADAM: A lot. I'm ambitious. I can be kinder. More loving. Neurologists make a claim. Every time you resist acting on your anger, you're rewiring your brain to be more calm and loving. I want to make people smile. I want to make myself smile. I want the applause.
These painful stories we tell ourselves mean to serve a higher purpose. We are in an age where people are identifying their destiny gate. Inescapable, fateful, life-altering events. Get inventive with your communication. Rose-colored glasses are great during the daytime. When it comes to night, it becomes very dark. Let's look at what is working, and go from there.
PAPARAZZI: MATCHING VISUALS TO SOUNDS; BEAT DETECTION /ˌpɑːpəˈrɑːtsi/
by Adam Cerny
I admire musical artists who recognize the importance of how to introduce visuals to a song they produce. The birth of the "music video" introduced musicians to a new way to reach their audience. A prime example of success in this would be Queen's music video for Bohemian Rhapsody. To create an image that will stay in people's minds is quite a feat. If you haven't seen that music video, head on over to YouTube immediately and enjoy.
Beat detection + audio analysis fascinates me. Why do I create so many music videos? Sonically and visually - it turns me on. It has very little to do with a showcase (this isn't a talent show), but everything to do with individual interpretation. How the visuals enhance a beat can make or break a peak experience. That experience feedback is what turns me on. The feeling. Not the admiration. The perception.
My goal is not to give you visual whiplash or cause dizziness (or maybe it is), but more so, to make you feel the beat inside of your own body.
I am, by no stretch of the imagination, an editor or a music video director. I don't claim to be. I am, however, an artist. Here, is a canvas I've created, for you. I've specifically chosen Fernando Garibay's remix of Lady Gaga's Paparazzi because he is a producer who has mastered the art of beats within any given song. I like juxtapositions because they're effective. They disrupt thought patterns.
The message of the song will always resonate with me. Success or love? Can you have both? Or is it one or the other? What price are you willing to pay for fame or admiration? I feel, in my own life, there is always a turnover. You gain one and lose the other. Vice-versa.
I hope you enjoy my visuals. I hope it makes you thump. AND - someday it'd be nice to have someone else join me in these videos. It can be stale and a bit static only filming myself. However, I am a prime example of what one can accomplish with only an iPhone 8 Plus, a song, and iMovie. No special equipment and no fancy software. Raw.
It's a light night special, folks! This is a "2 for 1" EVENT. You get a choice, my friends. Imagine same actors, same footage, different music/editing styles. Two completely different stories with the same source material.
This music + visual piece is JUST-FOR-FUN. There is no compelling artistic message behind this video. My fellow actor + I look hot as f***. That's all. 😘
BEHIND THE SCENES WITH ADAM: EPISODE 3 (Neverland + Rock of Ages + Post-Show Depression)
By Adam Cerny
Post-show depression. I've suffered from this since 5th grade's production of, "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe." I played the younger brother, Edmund. The one who goes off with that evil Queen, enticing him with Turkish delights. When the world of Narnia closed, I went into a "chewing the scenery" 10-year-old depression. This emotional pattern has repeated itself with every show I've done since.
"Peter and the Starcatcher" is going to be a hard show to put to bed. Working with the QC Theatre Workshop is always a dream. It has always been a collaborative + artistic experience. This show, in particular, is a true ensemble piece. If one piece of the puzzle is missing, the story cannot play out. That's what theatre is to me. Storytellers coming together to make something much larger than themselves. There's nothing better than hearing an audience member say, "Hey, that meant something to me!"
This video features behind-the-scenes moments during "Peter and the Starcatcher". Jess Denney + Keenen Wilson make cameos. As you'll be able to see, Keenen and I had the most fun every night dressing up as mermaids for the Act 2 opener.
Huge thanks to everyone involved in "Peter and the Starcatcher." Special love to everyone who came out to support the show. We hope you had a magical time. Be sure to check out the QC Theatre Workshop here 👉🏻👉🏻http://bit.ly/1LgVLG7👈🏻👈🏻 and their August world premiere of BROKEN.
Post-show depression sets in. A line from the show changed my whole perspective on how I approach the end. It's something I'd like for you ponder on and think about. "No! It's supposed to hurt - that's how you know it meant something! This isn't the end. You're going to remember everything, every single detail -"
I'm so stoked to announce that I'm joining the amazing group of ROCK OF AGES (local premiere) at The Black Box Theatre. The show opens August 10th. Get your tickets here 👉🏻👉🏻http://bit.ly/2ixnlus👈🏻👈🏻 I play Joey Primo. Love the 1980s and all the glitz + glamor + rock of that time? This show is for you. The group telling this story is wildly talented.
This video also includes pictures from when my dear friend KP came to visit me this past weekend. I needed time with someone who knows me. Not what they want to see in me. But for who I actually am. I love her so much. Peppered throughout the video are clips from my upcoming short film. "DIRTY DANCING WITH ADAM." No, it's not just dirty dancing. It ties in with post-show depression and how I prepare my body for the next project.
The show must always go on, folks. Stories need to be told, and I'm dedicated to tell as many in my life as I can. Enjoy and see you at ROCK OF AGES!
I always fall for the bad guy. Do you too? I know it's bad. I like danger and excitement. I like people who push the envelope. I'm a performer. I push the envelope. I perform in a very uncontrolled manner on stage, on camera, etc. I do a lot of free association. It's spontaneous. It's theatre.
You will never know your limits until you push yourself to them. I'm tough. I'm ambitious. I know what I want. If that makes me a bitch, I'm okay with that. I'm okay with always going after the "bad guy". Their danger warms me in a way that a jacket cannot.

Lady Gaga explains the meaning behind this song perfectly: "This song is about getting ready to go out and catch a man, catch a girl … you are manicuring your body, you’re manicuring your spirit, & your mind, and then, the chorus hits and it’s all about being really shocking … You’re gonna get laid tonight."
I need it. I want it. I have to have it.
